Guida galattica per nativi digitali e boomer. Il manuale definitivo. | Carlo Cuomo | TEDxLUCCA
"Now" isn't just about the present moment; "now" is also a unit of time. Likewise, "story" isn't just a collection of past events but a sequence of happenings at the heart of a narrative. Perhaps this should be called "Stor-AI", given the impact Artificial Intelligence is having on our lives. However, AI is not the only innovation rapidly reshaping the world as we know it. Social media, the Metaverse, and, above all, various forms of entertainment—video games in particular—are playing a crucial role. The main goal of this talk is to offer the audience a vision of our connected, technological, interactive, and human-centered world, focusing on key innovations and their positive and negative impacts on our lives. To achieve this, we will explore Edutainment and other methodologies, revealing how contemporary society is fighting—almost like in a video game—to reclaim control over its own life. We will also provide essential guidelines on how to choose the right allies and tools to win this challenge.

TEDx events are independently organized by volunteers. The guidelines we give TEDx organizers are described in more detail here: http://storage.ted.com/tedx/manuals/tedx_content_guidelines.pdfWhat if robots could move through grain, sand, or even Martian soil as easily as a fish swims through water? Dr. Lorenzo Conti introduces Crover, the world’s first granular robotics system, designed to navigate and monitor materials like never before. This breakthrough technology is transforming grain storage by preventing spoilage, reducing carbon emissions, and optimizing food security. By leveraging the unique ‘Crover effect,’ the robot overcomes traditional resistance in granular media, enabling seamless movement and real-time data collection.Beyond agriculture, this innovation has vast potential applications, from environmental monitoring to space exploration, where rovers struggle with loose terrain. Dr. Conti shares how his team is developing autonomous navigation systems for granular environments, paving the way for a future where robotics can operate in previously inaccessible spaces. As Crover moves from research to real-world deployment, it is redefining the limits of technology and sustainability. Dr. Lorenzo Conti is the visionary Founder and CEO of Crover, creator of the world’s first "granular drone," the CROVER, which moves autonomously within bulk solids and powders to tackle critical challenges in agriculture and storage. Lorenzo's journey began with a PhD in Engineering at The University of Edinburgh, where his research in granular rheology led to the discovery of the "CROVER effect" — the core of his company's innovative technology. His work has earned global recognition, positioning Crover as a leader in subterranean and granular material solutions. An Enterprise Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, Dr. Conti is honored for his pioneering contributions to engineering and entrepreneurship, exemplifying technology’s power to address pressing industry needs.
