Math: Beyond X and Y | Yusuf Sabuwala | TEDxAl Diyafah High School

My talk focuses on rediscovering the joy and creativity in math. Often seen as rigid and intimidating, math is filled with opportunities for curiosity and exploration. By shifting how we approach it, we can uncover patterns, connections, and a sense of wonder that makes it not just a subject, but a way to see and understand the world differently. This talk aims to inspire a fresh perspective on math—one rooted in discovery and freedom. Hi, I’m Yusuf Sabuwala! As a multiple-time winner in Math Olympiads and Hackathons, I’ve always had a strong connection with problem-solving and logic. My ambitions have been recognized by several accolades, including being named Top in the World for AS-Level Math and Top in the UAE for AS-Level Computer Science. Beyond academics, I’m a dedicated mentor and tutor for middle school students, helping them excel in math, physics, and economics. I look forward to sharing my perspective on math, how to approach it, and exploring the world through a new mathematical lens with you all. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
