The 3-headed monster of Waste management | Kedar Sohoni | TEDxPowai

In this compelling talk, Kedar Sohoni, IIT-IIM alumnus and founder of Green Communities Foundation, addresses India’s growing waste management crisis with practical, data-driven solutions. Kedar challenges conventional waste practices by focusing on community-driven approaches to segregation, composting, and sustainable systems, from urban centers to rural areas. Through his innovative, grassroots work, he highlights how informed communities and scalable systems can tackle the three major challenges of waste management—empowering change at every level.Kedar is a technology entrepreneur who has built research and analytics companies. His earlier company Informate was acquired by Nielsen. Kedar studied waste management as part of his volunteering stint at his own society where he implemented segregation at source and on-site composting. He set up Green Communities Foundation in 2017 and replicated this model across various societies in Mumbai. Current focus areas for GCF are Rural Waste Management and ward level waste management programs in Mumbai. Kedar is a B.Tech from IIT Bombay and a PGDM from IIM Lucknow. He started his career with Nestle in the marketing function. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
