Breaking Silence: How Menstrual Poverty Hinders Gils | Amanda Köhler | TEDxIntl School Of Uganda

Amanda discuss the issues surrounding period poverty, focusing on education of girls Born with a Swiss passport but raised in the heart of Uganda, Amanda has always called Uganda home. This vibrant and diverse country has shaped her personality, passions, and values. Her connection to Uganda runs deep, it is where she grew up, found community, first discovered the joys of sports, and developed and nurtured her hobbies. Amanda’s journey with sports began in the local community of Naguru, where she learned that sport is more than just a game, rather, something that also reflects culture, collaboration, and shared identity. The people and communities around her profoundly influence the hobbies she pursues and the values she upholds. Uganda is woven into every aspect of who she is—her perspective, resilience, and a profound sense of belonging. Amanda speaks about an issue close to home, directly impacting her community and countless others. She is passionate about this cause, and through this platform, she aims to raise awareness and inspire meaningful change. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
