En esta presentación, el Dr. Eduardo Díaz nos habla de la idolatría del mercado, casi todo se puede vender o comprar, vivimos en una sociedad entregada al placer de la compra. Necesitamos límites morales en la actual sociedad mercantilistas. Tarde o temprano estaremos en una situación en la que necesitaremos algo que el dinero no puede comprar: contar con alguien a nuestro lado que comprenda nuestra situación, eso es compasión. La compasión es una fortaleza, una fortaleza que nos permite enfrentar el incendio del mundo. La compasión, también, como virtud cívica.
Médico de la Universidad Nacional de Colombia y psicoanalista, miembro de la Sociedad Colombiana de Psicoanálisis, con estudios de pregrado en Filosofía y Literatura en la Universidad de Los Andes y Especialista en Bioética de la Universidad El Bosque, Bogotá, Colombia. Doctor en Filosofía y Magíster en Historia y Filosofía de la Ciencia y la Medicina por la Universidad de Durham, Reino Unido. En el momento participa en diferentes proyectos académicos y de investigación relacionados con la historia de la bioética, la ética médica, el psicoanálisis y las humanidades en salud, entre otros.
