Stop hailing womanhood as a superpower | Ashu Jain | TEDxHindu College Women

"Is motherhood a woman's sole fulfillment?" Dr. Ashu Jain asks, challenging us to look beyond the "Special NARITVA" narrative and the misleading "Superwomen" and "Perfect Noori" myths. In this thought-provoking TEDx talk, she urges us to break societal norms and recognize the critical need for real support systems. Dr. Jain delves into the value of women's labor, both earned and often unacknowledged, addressing the pervasive "Mom-guilt" and judgments they face. Acknowledging the two sides of womanhood, she sparks a vital conversation, advocating for "Free Naari." Her powerful message is a call to liberate women from "super expectations" and foster a world where they can define their own authentic paths. Dr. Ashu Jain is a 57-year-old nanotechnologist with a PhD from IIT Delhi. She earned her degree in Electrical Engineering in 1989 and then dedicated 23 years to raising her family as a stay-at-home mom. Returning to academia, she completed her M.Tech and subsequently her PhD from IIT Delhi at the age of 53. Following this significant achievement, she embraced a healthy lifestyle to manage post-menopausal health. A long-distance runner, she has achieved a podium finish in the 10K run category for her age group. Recently, she achieved another milestone by being selected for Roadies XX this year. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
