Melodic Medicines & Connecting Ancient Wisdom to the Modern World | Cloris Yan | TEDxTIS Macao Youth
My talk will be about how Chinese traditional music connects to Chinese traditional medicinal practices and how it tethered me to my own culture. I am a high school junior in the International Baccalaureate (IB) program at TIS. Currently, I'm working on my Extended Essay about the role of music in promoting liberty and equality during the French Revolution, with a passion for the intersection of history and culture. Outside of school, I have been learning the Chinese bamboo flute since 2017, and have placed in many international competitions. Central to my Tedx talk, i'm also involved in a collaborative project between the Macau Chinese Youth Orchestra and the Tung Sin Tong that promotes the relations between Chinese traditional music and medicine. In the future, I hope to pursue studies in environmental science and public policy, aiming to foster cultural diplomacy and harmony between humanity and nature.
