The overall impact my talk creates, changes the way in which people think about nature and interconnectedness. My strong communication skills along with my love for nature will ensure a fresh perspective and confident delivery of ideas. Nature is full of lessons that remind us of the power of collaboration, resilience, and balance. And while the world outside might seem like it runs on instinct, it actually runs on relationships. In that way, we’re not so different from the forests, oceans, and creatures we share this planet with. So, let’s take a closer look at what nature can teach us not just about survival, but about living well together. And if you leave this talk feeling just a little more connected to the world around you (or slightly guilty about ignoring your houseplants), then I’d say it was a success. I'm Uchil, a dedicated and passionate speaker who thrives on the thrill of taking the stage and making a difference. Over the years, I've had the privilege of participating in a wide range of public speaking events, from the debates of Model United Nations to the inspiring platform of TED Talks. The Power of Theatre by Fizza Hassan explores how theatre serves as a transformative force for self-expression, social change, and human connection. Through compelling examples, Fizza illustrates how theatre provides a platform for diverse voices, ignites conversations, and empowers individuals to challenge norms and reimagine possibilities. Her talk underscores the ability of theatre to inspire, educate, and bring communities together, proving that the stage is not just a place for acting—but for meaningful impact. Fizza Hasan is the founder and artistic director of Theatre Wallay, a theatre company based in Islamabad, Pakistan and active since 2005. As Artistic Director, Fizza manages all the company’s major projects; she provides leadership and guidance, deals with proposal and report writing and handles the programming, administration and finances of all big productions. She also works on establishing collaborations with sponsors and other organizations. Over the years she has directed numerous plays for the company, and also occasionally acts. Fizza is an ISPA Global Fellow for 2024. By profession a teacher of English Literature and French, and a teacher trainer, Fizza has also been teaching in Islamabad for more than 25 years now, and has extensive experience in teacher training. Living in the age of information overload, the phenomenon of Epistemology and its relation to media dominance is of paramount importance now more than ever before. The concept alludes to how media practices are equipped, not for communication, but for indoctrination and how the media is responsible for what we consider “truth”. This talk examines how media outlets, through meticulous selection of news, framing of narratives, and targeted dissemination of information, engage in a form of epistemic manipulation. By shaping what we perceive as reliable sources and influencing our understanding of reality, the media exerts significant power over our collective knowledge and shapes the foundations of our beliefs. To me, politics was never just about policy. I believe that the most pressing political problems of our time demand a philosophical reckoning. From Plato to JS Mill to John Locke, I draw inspiration from these profound thinkers and have a great interest in linking their ideas with modern political issues, with the hope of unveiling the truth. In fact, dissecting contemporary political dilemmas with a sharp, often controversial, edge is what I do best! Expect uncomfortable truths and a challenge to your most deeply held assumptions.
