- 14:40The Sleep-Performance Paradox | Shrideep Paul | TEDxXIMUniversityThis talk explores the counterintuitive relationship between sleep and performance in high-pressure environments. While sacrificing sleep is often seen as a way to maximize productivity and success, research shows that chronic sleep deprivation undermines cognitive function, decision-making, creativity, and overall resilience. The session examines why true peak performance depends not on doing more, but on resting better—and how individuals and organizations can rethink their approach to sleep for sustainable excellence.A dedicated student and skilled communicator, Shrideep specializes in psychology, behavioral science, and cognitive performance. With expertise in research, analysis, and nonfictional creative writing, he blends scientific inquiry with deep insights into spirituality (Gaudiya Vaishnavism, Hinduism), life sciences, and ancient Indian history. Fluent in Hindi, English, and Bengali, he is also an engaging public speaker and educator. Beyond academics, he actively promotes environmental sustainability through eco-friendly initiatives like recycling and mindful consumption. In his talk, he will explore how the relentless pursuit of peak performance often leads to neglected rest, paradoxically causing cognitive decline and reduced efficiency. By challenging conventional productivity mindsets, he will highlight the importance of balance, recovery, and sustainable success, offering a fresh perspective on optimizing mental and physical well-being.
