You Don’t Know What You Look Like… and That’s a Good Thing | Victoria Gracie | TEDxQueensU

In this talk, Victoria Gracie delves into the science of body perception, exploring how our body image is often quite distorted. Drawing from her own experience with body dysmorphic disorder, she explores the debate between body positivity and body neutrality, offering insight into the ideal mindset for healthier self-perception. Victoria Gracie is a research trainee at the Brain, Body, and Perception lab, a clinical neuroscience laboratory in CAMH and Temerty Faculty of Medicine. Outside of academia, Gracie is a fashion model and a Miss Canada top 8 finalist, expanding her work in body image to the fashion industry. Her story of becoming a changemaker has been showcased on national television and in publications internationally. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
