Measuring the invisible: The new way to define success | DUONG THUY NHI AU | TEDxDragon Bridge Youth
In the talk Measuring the Invisible: The New Way to Define Success, the speaker challenges the conventional view of success, emphasizing the importance of measuring effort and progress, not just results. Drawing from personal experience, they describe how they struggled with external validation and the pressure to succeed based on external achievements. By creating a system of tracking effort, feedback, and improvement (E.F.I.), they shifted their focus from chasing perfection to building consistent progress. The talk highlights the power of small, deliberate actions, arguing that success is built through micro-goals and self-reflection, rather than comparing oneself to others. The speaker urges that true success lies in self-awareness, personal growth, and the journey of discovery, not in achieving someone else’s goals. Au Duong Thuy Nhi is a Nguyen Binh Khiem High School student with a deep passion for public speaking and meaningful dialogue. From debating tournaments and MUN conferences to national public speaking competitions, she has transformed her love for words into a mission: to speak not for attention, but for connection. As Head of the Content Division in her school’s debate club, Thuy Nhi has not only honed her skills but also guided others in finding their voice. Her journey began with MUN, where she learned to balance logic with empathy, and was further shaped by a powerful speech on cyberbullying that earned her second prize at a national contest. What draws her to TEDxDragonBridge Youth is not the spotlight, but the chance to speak honestly — to connect with those who might feel overlooked, uncertain, or unheard. Through her talk, she hopes to share the quiet strength of authenticity, and remind every young person: your voice matters — you just need the right space to let it out.
