How to Demystify the Hidden Curriculum for Academic Wellness | Estella Evans Hamilton | TEDxUTulsa

NOTE FROM TED: TEDx events are independently organized by volunteers. The guidelines we give TEDx organizers are described in more detail here: http://storage.ted.com/tedx/manuals/tedx_content_guidelines.pdfGraduating high school doesn’t just take a knowledge of the core subjects; it also requires knowing how to navigate the “hidden curriculum” of credit sufficiency, GPAs, letters of recommendation, and countless other facets of administrative requirements. In her talk, Estella Evans Hamilton introduces her program, G-SAP Life, that guides students through the “hidden curriculum” to improve grades and graduation rates. Estella Evans Hamilton is an educator with over 30 years of dedicated experience in education. As an educator she is committed to student engagement, empowerment and academic wellness and excellence. This commitment led to the development and implementation of G-SAP Life, a goal-setting action planning process that actively engages students in tracking their academic progress and improving their GPA with each progress report. This innovative approach not only fosters a sense of ownership among students but also cultivates a culture of accountability and motivation within the school community. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
