Time waits for no Man | Yogesh Malik | TEDxBSA Youth
In this talk, we are guided through a journey into adulthood using the perspective of time. With personal reflection and anecdotes, as well as questions, we are encouraged to think about where we have been, where we are now and where we are going. After 15 years in top leadership roles like CEO, COO, Group CTIO and holding Board positions at some of the world’s largest telecommunication companies, working in more than 11 countries & 4 continents across the world, I believe that people with growth mindset, innovation & embracing diversity in its full extent, can make a significant positive impact to our surrounding societal ecosystems.
My passion is about building and coaching teams that are hungry, curious, and hardworking, with an aim of developing next generation of tech-savvy talents. I also believe that in order to be relevant in the rapidly changing world, one needs to start with customer use cases, understand deeper technology trends and be able to think outside of the box (clean-sheet approach).
Outside of technology, I love cooking vegetarian meals with my family and enjoy macrobiotic way of lifestyle, as it helps make our world a much healthier and a more sustainable place. - 16:51Ancient wisdom for modern minds | Keisha Lerum | TEDxUofTMississaugaA true stoic experiences fear, anger, joy, and love, but bridles them with discipline. By exploring the teachings of Seneca, Epictetus, and Marcus Aurelius, Keisha illustrates how Stoicism’s principle of mental discipline offers enduring lessons for navigating uncertainty. Drawing parallels between the past and present, Keisha underscores Stoicism’s timeless relevance as a guiding framework for modern life. Keisha Lerum is a student of anthropology and classical history, specializing in Ancient Roman society, identity, and cultural diffusion within the provinces as seen in architecture. Her broader research examines identity formation in the context of liminality. Keisha’s talk delves into Roman stoicism, which she has been practicing for over six years. Initially influenced by the teachings of Epictetus, her approach has since incorporated insights from other Roman Stoic philosophers. Keisha emphasizes the importance of mental discipline, the dichotomy of control, and voluntary discomfort for managing passions and alleviating emotional suffering. Through her studies, she investigates how ancient societies faced the same fundamental realities as the modern world, showcasing these parallels across different cultural manifestations. - 14:27We treat patients, not data | Jens Kleesiek | TEDxHelenen ParkIn this talk Jens Kleesiek argues that while medical data and AI can provide valuable insights in healthcare, it should not replace a human-centered approach towards patients. He distinguishes the opportunities AI presents for healthcare into workflow enhancements, such as efficiency improvements, and Medical Intelligence, the practice of utilizing data for personalized treatments. Despite the exciting potential of AI for healthcare, including the prospect of an AI personal health assistant, he stresses that data should support, not substitute, the crucial human relationship with the patient in healthcare. Jens Kleesiek is a full professor at the Institute for Artificial Intelligence in Medicine (IKIM) of the University Medical Center Essen in Germany. He studied medicine in Heidelberg, specializing in radiology and medical informatics. Jens also studied Bioinformatics and holds a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Hamburg. He spent several years in management positions developing medical software for consumers and healthcare professionals. At IKIM he's on the mission to bring AI algorithms into the clinic. To accomplish this 'code to clinic' approach, he and his team are working on modern cloud technologies, interoperable data structures, and cutting-edge AI methods.
