Kurika's speech is about Free Oppression. She explores the nature of freedom and how we live within that contradiction. Born and raised in Japan, studied in Canada for two years and currently she is in the final year of the IBDP programme at United World College Maastricht. She has been interested in social issues since the age of 4 when she learnt about global warming from the situation of polar bears at the zoo. She is a member of a non-governmental organization Free the Children Japan since 2016 and founded the student organization Connection our Earth. She serves as its representative since 2020. Currently, she is involved in raising awareness for children's rights and working to solve environmental issues. Hayata dokunduğu her alanda adalet ve eşitlik arayan Bego'nun işçi hakları için verdiği ilham verici mücadelede sadece tekstil işçilerinin çalışma koşullarını iyileştirmekle kalmadı, aynı zamanda sürdürülebilir moda hareketinin de öncüsü oldu.Bego, 15 yaşında çocuk işçi olarak kot üretiminde çalışmaya başladı. Beyazlatılmış kotun moda olduğu yıllarda kot kumlama yaparak akciğerinin %46.2’sini kaybetti ama yılmadı. 2008’de Kot Kumlama İşçileri Dayanışma Komitesi’ni kurarak Türkiye’de kot kumlamayı yasaklattı. Yasa koyucuları ikna ederek çıkarılan yasada bütün çalışan işçilere emeklilik hakkı kazandırdı. Bego mücadelesini verirken tekstil üretimindeki adaletsizliği fark etti. Ürünleri üreten küçük üretici ve işçilerin ne kadar güçsüz olduğunu ve ürettiği üründen adaletsiz pay aldığını gördü. Bu adaletsizlik sadece ekonomi ile sınırlı kalmayıp işçileri sağlığından ediyor. Aynı zamanda önlem alınmadan kullanılan kimyasallar çevreye ciddi zarar verip gider yolu ile karıştığı derelerde canlıların yaşamına son veriyor. Markaları “temiz giysi” üretin diye ikna etmeye çalıştı, bazen de onlara baskı kurarak iyileştirmeler yapmaları için çalışmalarını sürdürdü. Kaan Yarman shares his journey from aspiring advertiser to becoming an influencer, illustrating how unseen paths and unexpected turns can profoundly shape one’s life and career. He reflects on his motivations, the challenges of pushing boundaries in advertising, and how embracing uncertainty led him to a new and authentic role in the digital world. Kaan Yarman was born in 1988 in Tarsus. He completed high school at Tarsus American College. After graduating from Bilgi University with a degree in advertising, he worked in the project and business development department at Hürriyet Newspaper. After leaving his corporate career, he received pastry training at MSA. He currently writes the Tam Kararında Tarifler column for the Sunday supplement of Milliyet Newspaper and manages the Tam Kararında Instagram account.He is the author of the book “Kalori Alacaksan Buna Değecek”.
