A father and son on how things have changed | Marcos and Jim Latham | TEDxBSA Youth
In this father-son talk, guests are invited to think about the way that times, fashions and trends seem to have moved on whilst sharing some key threads: important values and beliefs, passed on by generations. How might these help to promote better lives? Marcos Latham is a vibrant and curious 14 year old who has grown up in the heart of Amsterdam all his life, born to an American father and a Spanish mother. His unique approach to life is thanks to his exposure to different environments, from his grandparents village in Spain to classic American suburbs to the Amsterdam way of life. Attending the British School of Amsterdam, his love and curiosity for all things - namely Geography, History, and Mathematics - have lead him to be interested in a variety of topics, including technology, new innovations and geopolitics. Whether it's through sports, school activities, or eco-projects, Marcos is committed to make a positive impact wherever he goes. Alongside this, his easy-going nature makes him a natural communicator and he enjoys making conversation with all sorts of people throughout his day to day life, which was truly what inspired him to take part in the TedxBSA event.Jim Latham is a North Carolinian and proud Duke University Blue Devil! He moved to France post-graduation in 1983 and has spent well over 2/3 of his life living in 6 different European countries; most recently, and for the longest period of time, he has resided in The Netherlands. His career journey spans from teaching and playing tennis in Germany during the Boris Becker and Steffi Graf era, to a decade with General Motors (Zurich / Detroit), to an 18-month stint in London working in Formula-1 to Adidas today. Jim’s jobs with Adidas have primarily been in the field of Sports & Brand Marketing and have included stops in Portland and Redlands, California, in addition to the Amsterdam hub. He loves sharing stories that connect milestones and experiences with a cross-cultural and cross-generational growth mindset.
