Healing with Folds: Origami Meets Medicine | Aditya Chourasia | TEDxMahindraUniversity

What if a folded paper crane held the secret to healing broken bones, repairing hearts, or regenerating nerves? In this visually rich and idea-packed TEDx talk, young researcher and citizen scientist Aditya Chourasia unveils a revolutionary intersection of art and science—where origami is reshaping the future of medicine. Drawing from cutting-edge biomedical research and the simplicity of ancient folds, Aditya explores how origami-inspired scaffolds are being used to guide tissue regeneration, engineer organs, and offer less invasive ways to heal the human body. From sports injuries to future organ transplants, he shows how biomimicry, biocompatible materials, and creativity can fuse into life-saving innovation. With the curiosity of a scientist and the soul of a poet, Aditya reminds us that healing isn’t just about fixing what’s broken—it’s about reimagining what’s possible.Because sometimes, the biggest breakthroughs begin with something as simple as a fold. Aditya Chourasia is a young researcher, Citizen Scientist (NASA) and author whose work thrives at the intersection of science and creativity. Driven by a bold mission to revolutionize healthcare through sustainable and integrated innovations, he began his research journey in high school- presenting at BioConclave 2023 (IIT Madras) and later research contributions at Photonics 2023 (IISc), Photonics 2024 (IIT Kharagpur) and has delivered invited talks at Jaypee University, Bversity and more. He designed STEM curricula for school students and served as an ambassador inspiring students across India. He is the author of ‘Ophiocordyceps Unilateralis’, the poetry collection -‘Echoing Tears of Encephalon’. Currently pursuing his undergraduate in Biotechnology, Aditya blends science, imagination and purpose in his work. When he’s not engineering the future, he’s writing poetry about the universe within and beyond. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
