How Down syndrome research benefits everyone | Jessie Ong | TEDxStanford

What if research on Down syndrome could help YOU learn and remember better? With a story rooted in family and driven by science, Stanford researcher Jessie Ong reveals how studying the neurobiology of Down syndrome may unlock breakthroughs in memory and cognition—not just for those with intellectual disabilities, but for all of us. Jessie Ong is a Stanford sophomore and scientist investigating the neurobiological mechanisms of intellectual disability in Down syndrome to develop cutting-edge cognitive therapeutics. Raised by someone with Down syndrome, she now leads efforts to welcome Stanford’s first students with intellectual disabilities through the Stanford Down Syndrome Research Center. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
