La vita umana potenzialmente è sempre in fermento? Lo può essere anche per chi vive la reclusione in un carcere? Sono queste le domande che l'intervento del prof. Favaro ci pone davanti. Nel suo talk, grazie alla sua testimonianza di volontario nelle carceri, il mondo interno al carcere e quello esterno provano ad intessere un dialogo, scoprendosi non per forza opposti. Anche lì dove non pare esserci nessuna possibilità di riscatto possono svilupparsi processi di speranza. Attilio Favaro è laureato in lingue ed è stato docente per quarant’anni, di cui ventinove al Liceo “Tito Lucrezio Caro” di Cittadella. Tra il 2001 e il 2009 ha insegnato anche all’Università di Padova, dove ha avuto un primo contatto con il mondo carcerario.
Dopo il pensionamento, nel settembre 2013, è diventato volontario nel carcere di Padova, tramite l'associazione Gruppo Operatori Carcerari Volontari.
Favaro ha iniziato ad accompagnare i detenuti nello studio e nel percorso di riabilitazione e, successivamente, è diventato coordinatore del gruppo di volontari dell’OCV che svolge questo servizio.
Nel 2022 è stato eletto presidente dell’associazione, che oggi conta circa 120 volontari attivi nelle due carceri di Padova e nella casa di accoglienza “Piccoli Passi”.
