An Interview on Quantum Puzzles: Beyond Space and Time | Antoine Suarez | TEDxSalzburg
In his talk, Antoine Suarez explains how the entanglement experiments he conducted inspired by John Bell use moving measuring devices, and thereby complete the experiments of Alain Aspect and Anton Zeilinger awarded with the Nobel Prize in Physics 2022, which use measuring devices at rest. The results challenge our understanding of space and time, potentially revolutionizing our perception of the physical world. Antoine Suarez is a Swiss physicist and philosopher known for his work on the foundations of quantum physics and the intersections between science, philosophy, and other fields like "mind-brain," "free will," "definition of death," "beginning of human life," and "origin of humanity." He holds a Master in Theoretical Physics from the University of Zaragoza (1967), a Master in Experimental Physics from the University of Fribourg (1969), and a PhD from the ETH Zurich (1975). In January 1990, he initiated the Center for Quantum Philosophy at the CERN in Geneva with John Bell (https://videos.cern.ch/record/1049544). In the following years he collaborated with the Group of Applied Physics at the University of Geneva (in particular Nicolas Gisin, Valerio Scarani, André Stefanov, and Hugo Zbinden) to propose and conduct experiments proving that the quantum correlations come from outside space and time, and the consistency of the material world requires non-material coordination. An essay reproducing the ideas of this TEDx interview has been published on this website. - 10:36Finding Dob | Mardhian Pratama | TEDxUniversitasBrawijayaThis talk shares a journey of finding personal art style through a small character named Dob. Where he was initially inspired by complex illustrations a la Where's Waldo? and then tried to develop it with a style full of detail and rich isometric backgrounds. However, over time, the search for this art style also made him quite tired and lost his enthusiasm which finally made him realize that Dob - a simple character who often appears in the picture - is actually his personal art style. Artsyle is not about technical complexity but about honesty in work and connection. The most important thing about art that resonates is art that can be accessed, shared, and felt by many people. Iynventory is an Alumni of Architecture Universitas Brawijaya who is also a graphic artist who brings life stories in every work. With colorful strokes and unique styles, Iynventory captures memorable moments, both from personal experiences and from the people around him. - 21:39Gado Gado: "Kamu bukan Personal Branding-mu” | Kala | TEDxUniversitasBrawijayaThis talk explores self-identity and the impact of personal branding, using gado-gado as a metaphor for human complexity. The speaker shares her journey from childhood attachments to an identity crisis at 17, questioning whether she was building her true self or just a curated brand. While personal branding can open opportunities, it also creates pressure to maintain a flawless image. She realizes that no matter how carefully one curates themselves both online or offline, the world will never fully know their reality. In the end, she reminds the audience that they are more than their personal branding—they are ever-evolving individuals, just like gado-gado, rich in diversity and always changing. She loves to write, share, and tell stories about life, people, and love as well as self-development, mental health, gender, and humanitarian issues. - 8:51A Cheesy Little Metaphor For Me | Dylan Sheen | TEDxOldSconaAcademicWhile cheese may be something we eat without a second thought, in this talk, Dylan compare our lives with cheese, and that despite it's unique flavours and ways of creation, we too are like cheese. We all have different representations of ourselves and the potential to become something "delicious". With a passion for creation ingrained in him since childhood, Dylan Sheen, a grade 12 student at Old Scona Academic, has been drawn (quite literally) into the realms of art and design. Throughout his life, he has expressed this passion through various mediums in art, literature and cuisine. Yet, beyond these artistic pursuits he contemplates the intricacies of the human condition and his own place in the world. In his upcoming TEDx talk, Dylan aims to explore the interconnectedness of humanity through a lens familiar to his personal journey and growth, showcasing the profound ways in which simple elements of life can serve as poignant metaphors for the human experience.
