Saudi Founding Day celebrations set to light up 15 cities with cultural and artistic events

Over 15 cities across Saudi Arabia are gearing up for grand celebrations marking Saudi Founding Day, with events scheduled from February 20 to 23.In Riyadh, the municipality has launched a large-scale initiative to decorate the city, featuring over 8,000 flags displayed at key locations across the capital. The Ministry of Culture is leading a diverse program of cultural and historical events, commemorating the Kingdom’s founding three centuries ago.
The nationwide celebrations will extend beyond Riyadh and AlUla, creating a Kingdom-wide tribute to the country’s rich heritage.
One of the key highlights is the Al-Srraya Festival in AlUla, running February 21-23. This immersive cultural experience will transport visitors through the Kingdom’s founding journey with interactive exhibits and activities. A unique environmental artwork, inspired by fireflies and stars, will replace traditional fireworks, offering an eco-friendly visual spectacle.
In Riyadh, the Strong Ties event at Boulevard City, set for February 21-23, will promote unity and cultural connection through an interactive community art installation. Visitors will contribute to a sculpture symbolizing togetherness.
The Memory of the Land event, taking place across multiple cities from February 21 to 23, will spotlight the history of the first Saudi state. As part of the Year of Handicrafts 2025 initiative, a dedicated Handicrafts Zone will showcase traditional and regional crafts, allowing visitors to explore the Kingdom’s artisanal heritage.
Spectacular light shows will also be part of the celebrations. Drone displays will illuminate the skies of various cities on February 22, while artistic fireworks will be launched in 15 cities, adding to the festivities.
Riyadh will further mark the occasion with the Foundation Day Orchestra at the King Fahd Cultural Center on Saturday-Sunday. The Saudi National Orchestra and Choir will bring the Kingdom’s history to life through a fusion of music and visual storytelling.
These celebrations, organized in collaboration with various government agencies, reflect Saudi Arabia’s commitment to preserving and promoting its deep-rooted cultural identity while enhancing its global image.
The festivities promise to offer a vibrant and unforgettable tribute to the Kingdom’s past, present, and future.
