5-year jail for citizen for defrauding 41 people electronically

RIYADH — A Saudi citizen was imprisoned for five years for defrauding as many as 41 people through online fraudulent means.
The Financial Fraud wing at the Public Prosecution under the Ministry of Justice has completed its investigations into the complaints against a citizen accused of committing financial fraud crimes, of which the number of victims reached 41 people. It was revealed in investigations that the accused had committed several fraudulent transactions, including offering fake products through online sales outlets.
Many of the victims were deceived after convincing them that there were goods for sale at attractive prices. However, when they transferred the required amounts to his bank account to purchase goods, the convict blocked them immediately.
After carrying out the investigations, the Public Prosecution issued an order to arrest the accused and referred him to the competent court, which ruled to award him imprisonment.
