DAMASCUS — Syria has expressed its heartfelt gratitude to Saudi Arabia and Qatar for their generous support to settle the outstanding financial dues owed by Syria to the World Bank, amounting to $15 million.

In an official statement released on Sunday, the Syrian government praised the fraternal initiative, emphasizing that the settlement of these dues was a significant gesture of solidarity during challenging times for the country. The payment is seen as a crucial step in supporting Syria’s economic stability and facilitating its path to recovery and reconstruction.

“The step taken by Saudi Arabia and Qatar reflects a shared commitment to easing the economic burden on the Syrian people. This action will not only help Syria manage its international financial obligations but also pave the way for strengthened cooperation with international institutions," the statement said.

Looking ahead, Syria is hopeful that this partnership with Saudi Arabia and Qatar will deepen, leading to more effective collaborations that serve the interests of all Arab nations and contribute to regional stability. The Syrian government expressed a strong desire to build on this momentum to further strengthen relations with both countries and explore future opportunities for cooperation.
