SFDA clears first 44-ton medical shipment for Hajj pilgrims
JEDDAH — The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) has cleared the first medical shipment for the 1446 Hajj season, weighing 44 tons and consisting of essential medicines and medical products.
The shipment, which arrived at Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Medina, marks a critical step in supporting the healthcare needs of Hajj pilgrims.
The SFDA underscored its commitment to its oversight responsibilities at the Kingdom’s air and sea ports, ensuring that all imported food, medicine, and medical products comply with strict safety and quality standards.
In preparation for this year’s pilgrimage, the SFDA launched proactive awareness campaigns and collaborated with Hajj Affairs Offices to enhance compliance with regulations governing the clearance of medicines, pharmaceutical preparations, medical devices, and food supplies destined for pilgrims.
Specialized SFDA teams are operating 24/7 at key points of entry, including King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah and Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Medina.
These teams meticulously monitor incoming shipments in coordination with other government agencies and private sector partners to ensure the swift, safe processing of all Hajj-related supplies.
