Saudi Arabia’s Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) has foiled an attempt to smuggle 40 kilograms of cocaine through Jeddah Islamic Port. The narcotics were concealed in a shipment declared as “medicines,” authorities confirmed on Thursday.
According to ZATCA, the suspicious consignment underwent standard customs procedures, including advanced security screening and inspection by detection dogs, leading to the discovery of the illicit substance hidden within the shipment.
The authority emphasized its continued efforts to tighten customs control over imports and exports to safeguard society and maintain public security, in close coordination with the General Directorate of Narcotics Control.
