ZATCA foils attempt to smuggle over 2.9 million Captagon pills

The Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority (ZATCA) thwarted an attempt to smuggle 2,991,342 Captagon pills through Al-Batha Port. The pills were concealed within a shipment entering the Kingdom.ZATCA reported that the shipment, labeled as "LED lighting products," was subjected to customs procedures, including security scanning and inspection using advanced technologies and live detection tools. The concealed pills were uncovered during the inspection process.
Following the seizure, ZATCA coordinated with the General Directorate of Narcotics Control to ensure the arrest of the recipients within the Kingdom.
Two individuals were apprehended in connection with the smuggling attempt.
The authority reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening customs controls over the Kingdom's imports and exports, ensuring the safety and security of society in collaboration with the General Directorate of Narcotics Control.
ZATCA also urged the public to contribute to the fight against smuggling to protect society and the national economy.
