- 8:15Learning Beyond the Walls | AGNIV VINOTH | TEDxAnuragUWhat if school didn’t have walls? What if curiosity led the curriculum? In this heartwarming and eye-opening talk, 6-year-old Agniv Vinoth-one of India’s youngest video creators and open-schoolers shares his extraordinary learning journey. From handling real kitchen tools at age two to launching his own digital channel at four, Agniv invites us to rethink education through a child’s eyes. With a natural storyteller’s charm and wisdom beyond his years, he challenges conventional schooling, celebrates the power of questioning, and highlights how learning can happen anywhere be it in kitchens, gardens, museums, or conversations. More than a story of homeschooling, this is a call to parents, teachers, and society to foster environments where children feel safe, heard, and free to explore. Agniv’s journey reminds us that the future of education isn’t somewhere ahead-it’s already unfolding, beyond the walls. Agniv is a bright, curious, and creative child breaking traditional learning barriers. As an open-schooler, he explores beyond textbooks, following his passions at his own pace. Fluent in Tulu and Tamil at just 6, he’s also learning English and Kannada. His love for rockets, robots, and speed led him to start his own channel at 4, sharing his world with joy. Through his child-driven journey, he inspires others to embrace curiosity and unconventional learning. - 10:14The Timekeeper | Tai Murray | TEDxYaleIs it what we say or when we say it? Musicians self-describe in as many ways as there are styles of music. One of the most obvious and ironically least used descriptions is the title of timekeeper. Tai Murray, lauded by The Philadelphia Inquirer as “a violinist with more than technique on her mind” and a musician of “exceptional assurance and style,” is a 2004 Avery Fisher Career Grant winner. She has performed globally with major orchestras like the London Philharmonic and Los Angeles Philharmonic, and at premier venues including Carnegie Hall and Philharmonie Berlin. Murray’s recordings include an album of Ysaÿe’s Six Sonatas (Harmonia Mundi, 2012) and Bernstein’s Serenade (Mirare, 2014). - 9:04Revisiting the Superpredator Myth: What Have We Learned? | Arielle Baskin-Sommers | TEDxYaleThe prophecy of juvenile superpredators led nearly every state in the United States to expand laws that removed children from juvenile courts and exposed them to adult courts and adult punishments. Was this prophecy true? Was it worth locking juveniles up in adult prisons for long sentences? The simple answer is no. In this talk, Dr. Arielle Baskin-Sommers reviews what psychological science can teach us about adolescents who commit violent crimes. Dr. Arielle Baskin-Sommers, Yale University, is a clinical psychologist. Her work focuses on identifying and specifying the cognitive, emotional, and environmental mechanisms that contribute to antisocial behavior (e.g., substance use, criminal activity, aggression). She uses findings from her research to develop novel experimental tasks, assessments, and intervention strategies aimed at developing more humane (and scientific) approaches to addressing mental health and crime.
