How to collaborate like you're in a band | Jishnu Dasgupta | TEDxXLRI

Human beings thrive when they collaborate—and few metaphors capture the essence of teamwork better than a rock band. In this heartfelt and insightful talk, musician and storyteller Jishnu Dasgupta draws on nearly two decades of experience with the bands Swarathma and Bodhi Tree to explore what makes some teams soar while others stumble. With stories from backstage, band rehearsals, and the raw, emotional moments of performance, Jishnu reveals that being in a great band isn't about individual brilliance—it's about chemistry, shared intent, commitment, and the willingness to listen deeply, even when it’s hard. Jishnu Dasgupta is an Indian musician best known as the bassist and vocalist for the acclaimed folk-rock band Swarathma. With a background in engineering from NIT Allahabad and an MBA from XLRI Jamshedpur, he initially pursued a corporate career at companies like TCS and ITC before transitioning to music full-time.Beyond performing, Jishnu serves as Swarathma's artist manager and is recognized for his energetic stage presence and engaging with Swarathma. He has also contributed to music journalism, writing for publications such as Rock Street Journal, which deepened his appreciation for diverse musical genres Radio and Music.Swarathma's music blends Indian folk traditions with contemporary rock, reggae, and blues, often addressing social and political themes.
