Simple Failures of a Complex Brain: Shortcomings of Our Problem-Solving | Aiden Zhou | TEDxYouth@WAB

As a frequent participant in mathematics and programming contests, I’ve always been perplexed by how logic and mathematics often seem to break down in real life. Starting last year, I set out to understand why. In my speech, I will cover the System 1 – System 2 theory of cognition and how it explains errors in our judgement, as well as how AI can supplement, rather than supplant, our thinking. I’m a Grade 11 student from the United States. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
