A lehetetlenen túl | Nóra Vámos | TEDxLibertyBridgeWomen

What drives a mother of three to embark on extreme adventures in the coldest places on Earth—Greenland and beyond the Arctic Circle—without a serious sports background? Nóra Vámos’s courage and her desire to discover her true self beyond her comfort zone can be an inspiration to us all! Nóra achieved something never before accomplished: she was the first in the world to complete a Greenland crossing as part of a mixed-gender duo, taking on one of the toughest and most grueling ultra-distance Arctic challenges. During the 30-day expedition, she endured -20°C temperatures while traversing the 560-kilometer expanse of the world’s largest island, a land ruled by polar bears. Nóra also became the first Hungarian woman to complete this feat—and she didn’t stop there. She conquered Norway next, then embarked on a solo 21-day trek through Hardangervidda National Park, the very region where Amundsen once prepared for his South Pole expedition.
A single mother raising three teenagers, Nóra didn’t just randomly pick a spot on the map. She undertook these extreme, comfort-zone-defying journeys to meet the requirements of a rigorous qualification program—one that will allow her to take part in an Arctic expedition no Hungarian has ever completed.
