Look At Me Go: Flying Fearlessly Towards Your Dreams | Shivani Kalra | TEDxHindu College Women

At TEDxHinduCollege’s Naritva event, Capt. Shivani Kalra highlighted the gender gap in aviation, a field still dominated by men. While only 5% of pilots globally are women, India stands ahead with 22% in 2024. Yet, she emphasized that true equality will be achieved only when society stops using the tag woman-pilot and recognizes them simply as pilots. Facing challenges head-on, she embraces every obstacle with a fearless attitude, saying “LOOK AT ME GO.” She inspired the audience by reinforcing that if one believes in themselves, they can achieve anything. Capt. Kalra urged women to celebrate each other’s success instead of being envious, fostering a culture of support and empowerment. She also stressed that happiness and career should align with one’s passion, as true fulfillment comes from doing what the heart desires. Her talk was a powerful reminder that no dream is out of reach for those who dare to chase it. Captain Shivani Kalra is a distinguished pilot with Air India, expertly flying the wide-body Boeing 787 Dreamliner. She played a crucial role in major rescue operations, including Operation Ganga and the Vande Bharat Mission, which facilitated the safe return of Indian citizens from crisis-hit regions. A highly sought-after speaker, she has delivered five TEDx talks, sharing her experiences and insights on leadership, aviation, and resilience. Her influence extends beyond the cockpit, earning her the Global Influencer Award in 2022, recognizing her impact in inspiring individuals across the world. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
