#LookUp: The Most Normalized Addiction | Isabel Martin | TEDxJenks Youth
I wanted this talk to bridge the gap between a personal anecdote, and a problem we all face: screen time– the most glorified addiction. I’ll spend some time explaining the subconscious mind and how we don’t even realize the full extent of its trap. While this talk is psychological, I hope it will reshape your approach to addictive tendencies, and maybe it wouldn’t hurt to get that screen time down by an hour in the process! Although I still haven’t committed to a college, I intend to major in biomedical engineering on a Pre-Med track so I can continue dedicating my life to helping people. Hi! My name is Isabel Martin and I’m about to graduate as a senior from Jenks High School! As someone who is heavily committed to healthcare, I wanted to take on a more psychological concept for my TED Talk. My involvement with Jenks includes both Pre-Med and Math Club President, NHS publicist, a member of Mock Trial, Debate, ISP, and a few others!
