Internalized Misogyny: The Secret to Achieving Gender Equality | Erica Touch | TEDxYouth@CISPP

In this TEDx talk, Erica examines internalized misogyny and its role in perpetuating gender inequality. Highlighting the lack of women in leadership positions and societal biases, she challenges the audience to confront their own assumptions about gender roles. Through personal anecdotes and a revealing experiment, Erica illustrates how implicit biases influence our perceptions of women’s capabilities. Emphasizing the need for intentional language and awareness, she calls for collective action to foster gender equality, underscoring that meaningful change begins with altering our thoughts and perceptions. Erica is a grade 10 student at the Canadian International School of Phnom Penh. In addition to being a Student Ambassador, a member of the Daily Bears and Student Council, she is also the founder of the Eco Club. She is motivated by her love for desserts and her desire to make an impact wherever she can. One of her most meaningful roles in the school community is serving as a member of the Women’s Committee, where she has organized fundraising events for the Cambodian Women’s Crisis Center. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
