Lebanon’s PM praises Saudi role in border talks with Syria

Lebanese Prime Minister Dr. Nawaf Salam expressed his gratitude to Saudi Arabia for its role in facilitating talks between Beirut and Damascus, highlighting the Kingdom’s efforts in addressing key unresolved issues with Syria.Speaking after a meeting with Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman in Makkah on Sunday, Salam said Saudi Arabia is actively helping to resolve pending matters with Syria and reaffirmed his government's determination to reassert control over all Lebanese territory.
The two leaders reviewed bilateral relations and discussed the latest developments in Lebanon and the region, alongside the efforts aimed at fostering stability.
Salam commended Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for his leadership in advancing the demarcation of the Lebanese-Syrian border, underlining his government’s commitment to financial and institutional reforms.
The meeting followed a landmark session hosted by Saudi Arabia in Jeddah that brought together Syrian and Lebanese defense officials. The discussions focused on enhancing security coordination, exchanging intelligence, and formalizing legal and technical committees to manage border issues.
The two sides signed an agreement stressing the strategic importance of border demarcation and agreed to hold a follow-up meeting in Saudi Arabia in the near future.
Saudi Arabia has reiterated its commitment to Lebanon’s sovereignty, stability, and territorial integrity, urging the international community and influential actors to fulfill their responsibilities in ending regional conflicts and supporting Lebanon’s path to peace.
