Al-Bassami: Pilgrims’ safety is a cornerstone of Interior Ministry’s security planning

JEDDAH — Director of Public Security and Chairman of the Hajj Security Committee Lt. Gen. Mohammad Al-Bassami emphasized that the Ministry of Interior prioritizes the security and safety of pilgrims as a cornerstone of its security planning efforts.
Addressing the Hajj Conference and Exhibition 2025 at Jeddah Superdome on Tuesday, Al-Bassami noted that security entities possess a wealth of experience in crowd management and organization, facilitated by sophisticated operations centers. He emphasized the critical role of modern technologies in enhancing operational efficiency, facilitating data analysis, and optimizing operational processes to support comprehensive security efforts.
Al-Bassami said that the Hajj system relies on the integration and coordination among relevant entities, harmonized performance, and non-conflicting tasks during implementation, all supported by comprehensive security plans.He highlighted the importance of cooperation between citizens and residents with security personnel to improve the quality of services provided to pilgrims.
The sessions of the second day of the Hajj conference discussed many topics related to serving and ensuring the safety of the pilgrims. The first session, titled "Diplomacy in the service of Hajj: Integrating efforts to facilitate the journey of the Guests of God", highlighted the importance of continuous integration and coordination between the Kingdom's efforts to organize and facilitate the Hajj journey for the Guests of God from different countries of the world, and the role of effective diplomatic communication in exchanging information, logistical coordination and overcoming obstacles.
The second session discussed the topic of "Customizing services for Guests of God: Data and digital solutions." The session touched on how to use big data and advanced analytics to provide customized services and realistic solutions that meet the needs of the Guests of God by anticipating the needs of pilgrims and providing proactive solutions.
It also addressed the latest innovations in digital technology, artificial intelligence and machine learning and how to integrate these technologies into the management of the Hajj system. The third session highlighted crowd control and monitoring solutions and technologies while the fourth session discussed the future of services and healthcare in Hajj.
Another session addressed planning and managing public health and safety emergencies in Hajj. The sessions concluded with a review of the integration and cooperation in media efforts in the Hajj system
