Saudi FM chairs first meeting of Saudi-Thai Coordination Council in Bangkok

BANGKOK — Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan and Thai Foreign Minister Maris Sangiampongsa co-chaired the first meeting of the Saudi-Thai Coordination Council in the Thai capital, Bangkok, on Thursday.
The meeting embodies the progress of relations between Saudi Arabia and Thailand and is based on enhancing coordination and cooperation in various fields to meet the aspirations and ambitions of the leaderships and peoples of the two countries.
The common objectives of the meeting seek to deepen cooperation and integration through the Council in several fields, including politics, security and defense, energy, economy, investment, education, culture, tourism, and other fields of common interest.
The committee meetings resulted in more than 70 joint initiatives in many fields, which confirms the importance of continuing to support the work of the Council, and permanent coordination between them to contribute to its effectiveness as an institutional tool that frames the work of bilateral cooperation between them.
The two sides signed a joint cooperation program between the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, represented by the Prince Saud Al-Faisal Institute for Diplomatic Studies, and the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs, represented by the Devawongse Varopakarn Institute for Foreign Affairs.
During Prince Faisal bin Farhan's official visit to Thailand, he met with a number of ministers and officials, where he met with the Speaker of the Parliament and Speaker of the House of Representatives of Thailand, Mr. Wan Muhammad Nurmatha, and during the meeting, they discussed aspects of cooperation to achieve the aspirations of the two countries.
