Saudi Arabia condemns Israeli escalation, targeting of civilians and Saudi warehouse in Gaza
Saudi Gazette reportRIYADH —
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed Saudi Arabia’s strongest condemnation of Israel’s ongoing escalation in the occupied Palestinian territories, including the killing of civilians and repeated strikes on displacement shelters. In a statement on Friday, the ministry denounced the Israeli army’s deadly attack on Al-Arqam School in Gaza, which was housing displaced persons, as well as the targeting and destruction of a warehouse belonging to the Saudi Center for Culture and Heritage in the Morag area east of Rafah. The facility contained medical supplies intended for patients and the injured in Gaza.
The Kingdom warned that the absence of firm international accountability mechanisms has emboldened Israel to persist in its violations of international law and international humanitarian law.
The ministry stressed that continued impunity only fuels further violence, exacerbates the Israeli aggression, and poses a grave threat to regional and international security.
Saudi Arabia reiterated the urgent need for United Nations Security Council member states to assume their responsibilities in ending the ongoing tragedy faced by the Palestinian people.
