EFU: It's not just a catchy and perhaps uncomfortable phrase. It stands for Embrace, Forgive, and Unite. It's a framework for transformation. And it's a process that can take you from conflict to possibility. Kathleen led an organization dedicated to Eleanor Roosevelt and was inspired by Eleanor's teachings, leading to her "aha" moment. She learned from Eleanor's life, and her own, that we need to choose to Embrace the sometimes harsh realities of the world that we live in. We need to Forgive others, and ourselves, for the pain and fears of the past, and not let the past define our future. Who do you need to forgive? Not because they deserve it, but because you deserve peace. And we need to Unite the aspects of ourselves that we have chosen to embrace and forgive. By acknowledging and accepting our imperfections and the difficulties of the lives we have lived, we transform self-criticism into self-acceptance , allowing us to honor our past without being confined by it. Durham served on a number of non-profit boards in New York andGeorgia and believes service is the “rent you pay for your space on earth.” Kathleen has been recognized for her leadership and service.
