How Young Advocates Can Transform Rare Disease Care | Viraj Kamath | TEDxWilmington

In this TEDxWilmington talk, Viraj Kamath shares his powerful journey from rare disease patient to passionate advocate for change. He highlights how youth-led movements are reshaping awareness, policy, and medical research to create more inclusive and equitable systems. Viraj challenges us to amplify unheard voices and take meaningful action toward a future where no patient is left behind. Vice President of RareGen, Viraj Kamath, is a rare disease policy advocate, researcher, and speaker dedicated to amplifying youth voices in healthcare. Diagnosed with Progressive Familial Intrahepatic Cholestasis (PFIC), he helped kickstart RareGen to empower young advocates and drive policy changes for rare disease patients. Through legislative efforts, global speaking engagements, and community-driven initiatives, Viraj works to ensure rare diseases are prioritized in healthcare systems and public policy. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
