镜头聚焦:努力成就非凡瞬间 Striving to Capture Extraordinary Moments | 梁沥传 Edmond Leong | TEDxPetalingStreet
One must keep shooting to capture those rare moments."Street photographer Edmond Leong, at the age of 19, would go to Pasar Karat every week to take photos. Despite being scolded by vendors, he didn't back down; instead, he wanted to befriend them. He printed the photos and gave them to the vendors, gaining their trust.Edmond believes that taking photos as a friend, rather than just as a photographer, allows for more soulful work. This is also why he enjoys street photography. He sees flea markets as more than just places—they are like communities. The locals aren't the so-called dangerous people; each one has their own story and is someone striving for a better life.Edmond won an international photography award for his series on the flea market.#TEDx #TEDxPetalingStreet #TEDx茨廠街 #TEDx茨厂街 #Forward2024 #躍2024 #跃2024 #梁沥传 #梁瀝傳 #Edmond Leong #街头 #摄影 #Photography #Speakers2024 梁沥传是一位自学成才的年轻街头摄影师。 Edmond Leong is a self-taught Gen Z Street photographer from Kuala Lumpur. His works have been featured internationally in Italy, Poland and Scotland; he has also held photography workshops under Zontiga where he works. In 2023, he published his first Zine, Kilat.Edmond has a particular affection towards Pasar Karat, a popular bazaar located at the very heart of Kuala Lumpur’s Chinatown at Petaling Street, as this was where he spent his youth honing his craft in photography. He wishes to destigmatize the stereotypes of Pasar Karat by telling the unique characters that made up this now defunct Chinatown bazaar. At the tender age of 21, he has accomplished much — his colourful and vibrant personality contrasts starkly with his black and white photographs. - 18:58Sessions 10.17.24 @ Songbirds, Part 2 | Maria Jordania (LVNDR) | TEDxChattanooga SalonFeatured songs: R&R; Little Alien Tigress of the Sun The phrase "breath of fresh air" is used often in music, but it truly captures the essence of LVNDR. She's a neo soul singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist hailing from Chattanooga, Tennessee. It's only a matter of time before the world is her stage, though. After she sings a few short bars, the stark contrast between LVNDR's cyberpunk look and velvety voice seems to dissolve. She proves that these elements are not mutually exclusive. In fact, they're pieces of a much bigger vision she's bringing to life. Her debut EP Five-Letter Word offers a glimpse of what's to come, fusing spontaneous ideas refined during improv sessions into five cohesive permutations of her vibrant sound. She wants nothing more than to inspire authentic expression in as many music lovers as possible. It's safe to say LVNDR has found her voice but by no means is she finished evolving as an artist. He was born on 7/2/77 in Athens. He started his professional athletic career at the age of 15, where he also received his first paycheck. He would take two buses and a train daily to get to his training sessions from his family home in Ilio, to Patissia and Sporting. At 16, he won the European children’s championship with the National Team. At 18, he won the World Junior Championship and that same summer transferred to Olympiacos. He spent a total of 3 years at Sporting, 7 years at Olympiacos, 1 year at Makedonikos, 4 years at Panathinaikos, 2 years at AEK, 1 year at Panionios, and 1 year at Peristeri.Apart from being a European children’s champion and world junior champion, he is a 2-time Olympian with the national men’s team, 7-time Greek champion, 6-time Greek Cup winner, 2-time European club champion with Olympiacos and Panathinaikos, and the only Greek basketball player to achieve a triple crown with Olympiacos and Panathinaikos, meaning winning the championship, cup, and European title in the same season. After retiring, he was awarded by the Panhellenic Association of Sports Press for his ethics throughout his career. In the last 2 years, he has been dedicated to raising awareness about autism, mainly due to his daughter, but also speaking about self-improvement, athleticism, and teamwork, and how he utilized these experiences from sports to turn what society perceived as a disadvantage into an advantage and help thousands of people facing similar challenges. - 20:45Silent Errors in Large Scale Computing Systems | Dimitris Gizopoulos | TEDxAthensComputers in the cloud and elsewhere generate (more frequently than we ever expected) wrong results of which we are not aware (silent errors or silent data corruptions - SDCs). The computing industry and research community actively measure the severity of the problem and develop clever solutions to prevent silent errors from breaking computing! So keep trusting computing systems, the best minds make them robust! Dimitris Gizopoulos is Professor at the (National and Kapodistrian) University of Athens where he leads the Computer Architecture Laboratory of the Department of Informatics and Telecommunications. His research focuses on the complex interactions among the computing performance, the energy efficiency, and the correct operation of modern computing systems at different application domains across the performance spectrum. His team works, among other topics, on the analysis of silicon defects in modern CPUs, GPUs, and AI accelerators hardware chips (manufacturing, design, and environment aspects that impact their operation) and their effects on the correctness of the computing systems running everyone’s software workloads. The work is part of a global industry-academia effort led by Meta, Google, AMD, Intel, Nvidia, Arm, Microsoft towards improving the quality of the services of modern machines on which our live relies.Dimitris is a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) for his contributions to microprocessors reliable operation, a Distinguished Member of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), and a Golden Core Member of the IEEE Computer Society. His research publications with students and collaborators have been nominated and awarded important recognitions at scientific conferences and journals in the field of computer architecture, hardware design and systems dependability. He has served as General Chair and Program Chair of several top tier IEEE and ACM international conferences and on the Editorial Boards of prestigious IEEE and ACM archival publications.
