Emotional sustainability | Michal Matloň | TEDxTrencin
What does sustainable architecture mean from the perspective of people and human emotions? The things we build today (and those built in the 20th century) are not particularly liked by most people, and they don’t form an emotional connection with them. If we want to build things that people will protect and cherish for 500 years, we need to turn to psychological insights on how to make them “emotionally sustainable.”
Michal is an architectural psychologist who helps create spaces for a good life and meaningful work, from offices to urban districts. In the past, he worked for one of the largest European office developers and a consulting firm founded by cognitive scientists from the University of Vienna. Michal is also the co-founder of the Venetian Letter newsletter, which focuses on human-centered and science-based architecture and urbanism. - 10:36Finding Dob | Mardhian Pratama | TEDxUniversitasBrawijayaThis talk shares a journey of finding personal art style through a small character named Dob. Where he was initially inspired by complex illustrations a la Where's Waldo? and then tried to develop it with a style full of detail and rich isometric backgrounds. However, over time, the search for this art style also made him quite tired and lost his enthusiasm which finally made him realize that Dob - a simple character who often appears in the picture - is actually his personal art style. Artsyle is not about technical complexity but about honesty in work and connection. The most important thing about art that resonates is art that can be accessed, shared, and felt by many people. Iynventory is an Alumni of Architecture Universitas Brawijaya who is also a graphic artist who brings life stories in every work. With colorful strokes and unique styles, Iynventory captures memorable moments, both from personal experiences and from the people around him. - 21:39Gado Gado: "Kamu bukan Personal Branding-mu” | Kala | TEDxUniversitasBrawijayaThis talk explores self-identity and the impact of personal branding, using gado-gado as a metaphor for human complexity. The speaker shares her journey from childhood attachments to an identity crisis at 17, questioning whether she was building her true self or just a curated brand. While personal branding can open opportunities, it also creates pressure to maintain a flawless image. She realizes that no matter how carefully one curates themselves both online or offline, the world will never fully know their reality. In the end, she reminds the audience that they are more than their personal branding—they are ever-evolving individuals, just like gado-gado, rich in diversity and always changing. Deeply flawed person with an unlimited will to grow who aims to embody the soul of a storyteller. She loves to write, share, and tell stories about life, people, and love as well as self-development, mental health, gender, and humanitarian issues. - 8:51A Cheesy Little Metaphor For Me | Dylan Sheen | TEDxOldSconaAcademicWhile cheese may be something we eat without a second thought, in this talk, Dylan compare our lives with cheese, and that despite it's unique flavours and ways of creation, we too are like cheese. We all have different representations of ourselves and the potential to become something "delicious". With a passion for creation ingrained in him since childhood, Dylan Sheen, a grade 12 student at Old Scona Academic, has been drawn (quite literally) into the realms of art and design. Throughout his life, he has expressed this passion through various mediums in art, literature and cuisine. Yet, beyond these artistic pursuits he contemplates the intricacies of the human condition and his own place in the world. In his upcoming TEDx talk, Dylan aims to explore the interconnectedness of humanity through a lens familiar to his personal journey and growth, showcasing the profound ways in which simple elements of life can serve as poignant metaphors for the human experience.
