Advocating for a Better Future | C.C. Dragoni | TEDxOlentangy Liberty Youth

In her speech, CC Dragoni describes her experience advocating for affordable insulin and the renewal of the Special Diabetes Program as part of Breakthrough T1D’s Children’s Congress in Washington, D.C. Diagnosed with type 1 diabetes as an infant, she explains the constant challenges of managing the disease and the urgent need for greater access to insulin and diabetes care. Dragoni emphasizes that advocacy requires stepping outside of personal comfort zones, respecting and engaging with diverse stories, and uniting to create lasting change. She highlights the importance of collective action, inclusivity, and persistence in securing legislative successes such as the renewal of the Special Diabetes Program, and encourages others to recognize the power of their voices in advocating for change. Cecilia Dragoni is a current junior at Olentangy Liberty high school. She is a high jumper for the track and field team, an active member in the Class Cabinet, and a part of 2nd and 7. She loves Taylor Swift music, spending time with family, and being outdoors. She is also an avid traveler who loves to explore different parts of the world. As a type 1 diabetic she cares deeply about advocating for increased awareness about the condition and support for new treatments. She is always eager to meet new people and hear differing ideas and opinions as a way to broaden her perspective in a world full of diverse experiences. Cecilia is passionate about sharing her voice and experiences with the community. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
