Advancing women's health equity | Dr. Veena Babu | TEDxWoodLaneWomen

Join Dr. Veena Babu as she addresses the critical issue of women’s health equity in her talk, “Mind the (Health) Gap,” highlighting how women’s pain is often dismissed, misdiagnosed, or ignored in healthcare. She calls for a revolution in medical research and treatment to close the gender health gap, urging for more female-focused studies, leadership, and societal change. Dr. Babu emphasizes that women's health is not just a women's issue—it's a human issue, and closing this gap will benefit everyone. Dr. Veena Babu is a London-based GP, broadcaster, and health expert who frequently shares her insights on prominent platforms, including Channel 5 News, BBC Radio, and ITV, among others. A leading Bollywood dance choreographer, Dr. Babu combines her passion for lifestyle medicine with her expertise in clinical leadership. She has leveraged her medical background and creative talents to spearhead initiatives addressing health inequities globally, beginning with the launch of SADAH, the UK’s first charity dedicated to improving the lives of South Asian diabetic patients. Her innovative dance projects have garnered over 50 million views on YouTube, enabling her to raise thousands of pounds for various causes, including Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital, the Royal Society for Blind Children, and Kerala Flood Relief. Dr. Babu's recent collaboration with WaterAid brought her to 10 Downing Street and the Houses of Parliament, where she worked closely with MPs on health think tanks.
