All Children Are Born With Wonderful Talents | Kotaro Tanaka | TEDxSuginami
In this heartfelt TEDx talk, Kotaro Tanaka, founder of Tensai Kids Club nursery schools in Kanagawa, Japan, shares a powerful belief: every child is born with infinite potential.
After a major life setback, Kotaro found his calling in education, creating an environment where children are encouraged to think freely, explore naturally, and grow through play — without forced teaching or restrictions. His concept of “co-education” emphasizes that education is not one-sided; it is a journey of growing together, where both children and adults learn from one another.
Drawing inspiration from his mentor’s philosophy — “By thinking about how you want to die, you decide how you should live” — Kotaro commits to a life of smiles, excitement, and belief in children’s abilities.
Through simple daily practices at his nursery, like high-fives, positive meetings, and celebrating small wins, Kotaro shows how nurturing self-esteem and passion can transform not just education, but businesses, sports teams, and society itself.
This talk is a passionate call for a societal shift from education to co-education, where the focus moves from filling children’s heads with knowledge to unleashing their creativity, resilience, and happiness. - 19:19How a Xerox machine saved lives and won me a Nobel Prize | Drew Weissman | TEDxPennDiscussing the serendipity of the making of great scientific discoveries, and how the mRNA technology is not only saving lives one at a time, but also hastening a global healthcare revolution. Drew Weissman, M.D., Ph.D. is a professor of Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania. He received his graduate degrees from Boston University School of Medicine.Dr. Weissman, in collaboration with Dr. Katalin Karikó, discovered the ability of modified nucleosides in RNA to suppress activation of innate immune sensors and increase the translation of mRNA containing certain modified nucleosides. The nucleoside-modified mRNA-lipid nanoparticle vaccine platform Dr. Weissman’s lab created is used in the first 2 approved COVID-19 vaccines by Pfizer/BioNTech and Moderna. They continue to develop other vaccines that induce potent antibody and T cell responses with mRNA–based vaccines. Dr. Weissman’s lab also develops methods to replace genetically deficient proteins, edit the genome, and specifically target cells and organs with mRNA-LNPs, including lung, heart, brain, CD4+ cells, all T cells, and bone marrow stem cells. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
