Can Korean dramas help us talk about mental health? | Jeanie Chang | TEDxLogan Circle
From Crash Landing On You to Squid Game, Korean Dramas, or K-Dramas, have a wider audience than ever. They also have an unflinching approach to portraying mental health. Speaking from her experience as a therapist, Jeanie’s talk highlights what K-Drama can teach us about discussing mental health, and why it offers a model for destigmatizing those discussions — especially in communities of color. Jeanie is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. She is an accomplished international speaker, providing keynotes and offers workshops for corporations, community organizations, and colleges addressing the intersectionality of mental health and identity, DEIB and psychological safety, as well as education about topics such as burnout, resilience, mindfulness, stress, and mental health conditions including anxiety, depression, and suicidality. She serves as a subject matter expert on mental health for media outlets around the world.
