Live aligned with Your Philosophy | Hiro Abe | TEDxKatano

The speaker notes that many people, despite outward success, still feel an inner sense of emptiness. He underscores the importance of living in alignment with one’s personal “philosophy” as the key to a truly fulfilling life. According to him, while children are free from concern over others’ opinions, adults learn to bury their genuine feelings. He himself had a turning point at age 15, spurred by a tutor’s words; now, as a dentist treating numerous patients each year, he implements three principles to live without regrets. Through a musical performance, he sings of “turning failures into fuel,” “freeing emotions,” and “trusting in your own potential,” explaining that, by recovering the confidence of childhood and believing in the future, negative feelings prove only temporary. In closing, he exhorts listeners to transform failure into guidance for a life where they shine, asserting that staying true to one’s philosophy—unfazed by external voices—is the path to genuine happiness. After graduating from Tokyo Dental College, he completed training at various institutions including Harvard University, the University of Pennsylvania, the University of Zurich, the University of Michigan, and UCLA (University of California, Los Angeles), thereby honing his knowledge and skills at the forefront of dental medicine. Between clinical work, he also pursued graduate research and was awarded a doctoral degree (PhD).In Japan, he served as the director or chief at multiple dental clinics, and in 2012, opened his own dental clinic. Today, while working as chairman and practicing daily clinical dentistry, he continually strives to acquire the latest medical knowledge and scientific insights. Furthermore, he carries out humanitarian assistance activities in the Dominican Republic for the purpose of giving back through implant treatment, providing medical care to local residents and training dentists from around the world.
