Ellis discusses the research and current events that demonstrate a decline in empathy among young people. She also discusses how to become more empathetic and why it's important. Ellis is in 8th grade at Oak Knoll and a first year member of Tedx. She chose to give her TedTalk on empathy and social interactions because of her interest in current events and the world around her. Aside from Tedx Club, Ellis is also an avid speller and reader and placed in the Regional Scripps Spelling Bee this year. Gianna discusses the psychology and neuroscience concepts behind turning jitters into excitement to perform on stage, in the classroom, on an athletic field and more. Gianna is a sophomore at Oak Knoll, and is participating in her first year in TEDx. Her talk is about the transfer of nervous energy into excitement, relating her experiences with competition dance. Gianna has danced competitively since elementary school, which prompted her to relate her talk to dance. Maggie talks about her experience with volunteering for an organization that supports adults with special needs and their families. She discusses different types of special needs and focuses on celebrating the wonderful qualities of individuals with special needs as well as the relationships that they form with those around them. Her debut talk, Celebrating Special Needs, is inspired by her younger cousin, Fiona, and her volunteer work with adults with special needs. Francesco Misceo is an experimental contemporary dancer and new media artist born in Modena, Italy, in 1997. He acts in the field of digital arts and performing arts by creating many forms of art, from stage performances to exhibitions combining real and virtual worlds. He places the human body at the heart of technological and artistic challenges and adapts today’s technological tools to create a timeless poetry through a visual language based on playing and enjoyment, which breeds imagination. His work is acknowledged for the highly holistic artistic methodology with a strong digital background, which considers not only physical elements as dance, but also optical, sonal, sensorial and, above all, spatiotemporal components as part of the choreography. Based on his profound interest in choreographing time and space, he wants to spread his talent not only as a choreographer and dancer but also as a composer, light designer, scenographer and visual artist.
