The lifestyle to live the longest | Dr. Michael Greger | TEDxBoston
NOTE FROM TED: While some viewers may find this helpful as a complementary approach, please do not look to this talk for medical advice. This talk only represents the speaker's personal views and interpretation of diet, health, and disease. Claims around the role of diet in Alzheimer’s treatment and prevention warrant further scientific investigation. TEDx events are independently organized by volunteers. The guidelines we give TEDx organizers are described in more detail here: http://storage.ted.com/tedx/manuals/tedx_content_guidelines.pdfThe good news is that we have tremendous power over our health destiny and longevity; the majority of premature death and disability risk is preventable with a healthy enough diet and lifestyle. Even just basic, common-sense healthy behaviors can mean living a decade longer: not smoking, not being obese, regular exercise, and more fruits and vegetables. And it’s never too late. It’s never too late to stop smoking, to move more, or to start eating healthier. - 7:05The Economics of Espionage | Taman Thomas | TEDxAl Diyafah High SchoolThe Economics of Espionage: Spies, Secrets, and the Cost of Betrayal offers a fresh perspective by linking espionage to its economic consequences. While often seen through the lens of security and geopolitics, this approach reveals how stolen trade secrets, cyber-attacks, and corporate intelligence influence global markets, drive innovation and affect GDP. It challenges conventional views by presenting espionage as a hidden driver of economic disruption and growth, highlighting its dual impact as a threat and a catalyst for technological advancement and policy shifts. I am a high school student passionate about global politics, economics, and innovation. My involvement in Model United Nations has sharpened my critical thinking skills and deepened my understanding of international relations. I look forward to sharing insights on the connection between technology, economic stability, and ethics during my TEDx Talk. - 6:04Interconnectedness with the Ecosystem | Ansh Uchil | TEDxAl Diyafah High SchoolThe overall impact my talk creates, changes the way in which people think about nature and interconnectedness. My strong communication skills along with my love for nature will ensure a fresh perspective and confident delivery of ideas. Nature is full of lessons that remind us of the power of collaboration, resilience, and balance. And while the world outside might seem like it runs on instinct, it actually runs on relationships. In that way, we’re not so different from the forests, oceans, and creatures we share this planet with. So, let’s take a closer look at what nature can teach us not just about survival, but about living well together. And if you leave this talk feeling just a little more connected to the world around you (or slightly guilty about ignoring your houseplants), then I’d say it was a success. I'm Uchil, a dedicated and passionate speaker who thrives on the thrill of taking the stage and making a difference. Over the years, I've had the privilege of participating in a wide range of public speaking events, from the debates of Model United Nations to the inspiring platform of TED Talks. For me, public speaking isn't just about delivering words, it's about sparking thought, challenging perceptions, and reshaping opinions that many believe are immovable. There's an unparalleled joy in connecting with an audience and leaving them with a new perspective to ponder. Beyond the microphone, I am deeply passionate about animals and the natural world, finding solace and inspiration in their beauty and resilience. - 6:28The Hidden Dialogue: Epistemology and the Media | Isabella Maria Joseph | TEDxAl Diyafah High SchoolLiving in the age of information overload, the phenomenon of Epistemology and its relation to media dominance is of paramount importance now more than ever before. The concept alludes to how media practices are equipped, not for communication, but for indoctrination and how the media is responsible for what we consider “truth”. This talk examines how media outlets, through meticulous selection of news, framing of narratives, and targeted dissemination of information, engage in a form of epistemic manipulation. By shaping what we perceive as reliable sources and influencing our understanding of reality, the media exerts significant power over our collective knowledge and shapes the foundations of our beliefs. To me, politics was never just about policy. I believe that the most pressing political problems of our time demand a philosophical reckoning. From Plato to JS Mill to John Locke, I draw inspiration from these profound thinkers and have a great interest in linking their ideas with modern political issues, with the hope of unveiling the truth. In fact, dissecting contemporary political dilemmas with a sharp, often controversial, edge is what I do best! Expect uncomfortable truths and a challenge to your most deeply held assumptions. Prepare to have your political worldview rewired. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
