Language: Where Worlds Meet | Pradeep Badekkila | TEDxSiddagangaInstituteofTechnology
Mr. Pradeep Badekkila, known as the voice behind 'Bigg Boss
Kannada' and Bengaluru’s Namma Metro announcements, is a voice-over artist, actor,
writer, and podcaster, explores the intersection of language and technology, focusing on
the “homogenization of languages” in the digital age. He raises thought-provoking
questions about the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in shaping the future of languages,
particularly endangered ones. Will AI serve as a savior or contribute to the extinction of
dying languages and dialects?
Mr. Badekkila argues that AI should be seen as a tool, not a threat, capable of preserving
linguistic diversity. By creating digital archives, translation tools, and educational
resources, AI has the potential to revive and sustain endangered languages. However, he
cautions against the unchecked homogenization driven by dominant languages in AI
systems, urging thoughtful development that respects cultural and linguistic diversity. Mr. Pradeep Badekkila, known as the voice behind 'Bigg Boss Kannada' and Bengaluru’s Namma Metro announcements, is a voice-over artist, actor, writer, and podcaster. With over 15 years of experience, he is a versatile talent in the Kannada entertainment industry This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
