Corazón Resiliente | Hermes Arroyo | TEDxCalle Aldama

Through his larger-than-life papier-mâché figures and intricate craftsmanship, Hermes demonstrates that tradition is not about resisting evolution but embracing it—allowing heritage to echo through time while adapting to modern influences. His work is a testament to the power of creativity in safeguarding cultural identity, ensuring that the spirit of a place is never lost but continually reborn. Hermes is best known for his work in the making of giant papier-mâché and fabric “puppets” called “mojigangas” and their preservation as a cultural tradition of San Miguel. Arroyo's work has been commissioned and regularly exhibited in Mexico and abroad. One of his creations won an award from Vatican City. His work has been praised by important people form all over the world. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
