- 7:09How to Help Children Face Their Fear of Failure | Akinori Shigemi | TEDxStart Rite Schools AbujaThis presentation offers thoughtful guidance on how to support children in overcoming their fear of failure. Using the example of the Super Mario game, the speaker explains that, just like in the game, failure is often expected and even necessary for progress. Each time a player falls, they rise, learn from their mistakes, and improve. The talk encourages parents, teachers, and caregivers to view failure not as a setback, but as a predictable and valuable part of the learning journey. By creating environments where children feel safe to try, stumble, and grow, we help them build resilience, confidence, and a mindset that embraces challenge as a path to success.Akinori Shigemi, CEO of Robot Programming school named "Robo Done" and Ambassador for Entrepreneurship Promotion appointed by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology. After working in corporate turnaround, I launched an educational business and expanded "RoboDone," a nationwide network of robotics programming schools. He calls on governments to create solutions that protect wildlife without putting human lives at risk—especially in rural and rapidly expanding urban areas. - 11:30Understanding climate intervention methods to reduce climate risks | Daniele Visioni | TEDxBostonOur carbon emissions are leading the world to unprecedented increases in global temperatures. Only their complete elimination will eventually preserve a livable climate in the long term. However, it is clear that the already growing risks we are observing require us to think of other methods that might help us mitigate such risks in the immediate future. Climate intervention techniques might help us quickly cool down the planet by reducing incoming sunlight. While many have been proposed, their potential safe application can only happen after a broad, legitimate and robust research program that does not exist yet. We might not think we need climate intervention right now—but 20 years from now, what do you wish your future self would know about it? And how do we start building that knowledge right now? Daniele Visioni is an Assistant Professor at Cornell University in the Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences. He's a climate scientist with expertise in modeling the impacts of various climate intervention techniques that might help us mitigate the risks of climate change, collaborating with other scientists across disciplines to build an international and interdisciplinary research program.
